In my younger years how i hankered to be Margo - not the snotty Margo - oh no - the fabulous, Harrods driven, fashion fabulous Margo - oh to sit around all day tending entirely to oneself and ones aesthetic needs, to pamper, preen and gossip - bloody marvelous i used to think. But then i liked Barbara, Barbara was nice and pretty and sexy and low maintenance and liked animals and i kind of wanted to be her too but then we parted company i have to confess i hated Tom i couldnt think of anything worse than being married to Tom - bleeeuch - Tom was my teen nemesis - uurgh - get the picture - i did not aspire to a Tom.
And then there was Gerry - well it has to be said i quite liked Gerry - he was fun, he didn't do a lot but god he was Margo's perfect foil, he was the switch that flashed Margo's light - i quite liked a Gerry and all the bits i love in Mr are very Gerry - he is funny, he thinks i shine (most days) but then every now and then he turns into Tom, grumpy, know it all, bossy old Tom - sexless yeeuchy old Tom. But then again maybe thats what saves me from being ten parts Margo - so the yuletide balance is firmly in check, xmas will come in a box i will be 3 parts Margo to one part Barbara and Mr will be 9 parts Gerry to one part Tom - after all it is a good life xx
We had a bit of a flash disaaaaaster so all round apologies to my photographer friends x

ReplyDeletecantruninheels.blogspot.com
beautiful! both the tree and you!
ReplyDeleteOmg, you could not look any more fabulous and I somehow adore the muted peachy/nude sparkly look with gray heels for the holidays! Congrats on the faux fur! I love it on you! I am thinking how I will wear mine but you have to be a very skinny girl to pull it off right!
ReplyDeletexo Mary Jo
Wow! You are so very ready for the holidays! You look stunning! I especially love your hair in the first picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise - i thought it came off x
ReplyDeleteMary Jo if you saw how many mince pies i ate today you would know that i will not be slim for long - thanks for the lovely comment xx
Thanks Lindsay i put it up as it flopped virtually straight away - which it usually does x
ReplyDeletePoor Frankie looks really moody, such a sweet baby he is...
ReplyDeleteOn a movie-related note - I've got to watch the series properly as all I can recall is Felicity and her neighbour (see, I don't even remember their movie names, nor can picture any men who happened to be around :( ) I always compare myself to Friends characters, I'm 2/3 Monica and 1/3 Rachel, oh and a bit of Phoebe (as a veggie, nothing else, so isn't worth leaving a whole 1/3 for this bit).
The outfit is beautiful, I adore the combination of powedery pinks and silvery and coppery sequins and grey fur and Pradas are gorgeous. Oh, and your hair looks amazing, too.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Claire! And give a kiss to Frank for me, hope he feels happy soon.
xxx

Loved reading about the Good Life - you are a good mix of Margo and Barbara. Always said you wrote interesting letters and you should think of writing and here you are - mother always knows best!!! Loved reading it!! You look beautiful, a very sexy outfit. Great faux fur - especially the colour and the shoes I now see are divine, really beautiful. Hope you had a wonderful evening and Frank and my son-in-law are both fit again. Plus the tree looks amazing. Wish I was there!!! Luv, Mum xxx

ReplyDeleteTabitha when i was at college i did all my own and over the years when skint i used to indulge my passion with the old sewing machine, i miss it but i no longer have the time or the urge to get it out so i decided to work with a tailor - who i have to say is in a different league to me when it comes to garment construction - i love the design, fabrics and styling and having studied fashion design i am a competent technical drawer, i also understand garment construction so with Jackie's skill it has worked out very well so far and i am rather enjoying it i have to say xx
Thanks Mum, me too xx

hi claire thank you so much for your lovely comment on iwanttobearoitfeld..my name is dara I write for my own blog too, entitled sisters in black frocks. your style is really amazing and I so love this pencil skirt. you are indeed so channeling a very carine roitfeld type of look here! very chic!

ReplyDeletelove those shoes!
ReplyDeleteI am slightly confused after reading your post ;) I've heard of this series, so must try and get it on DVD sometime. You are looking very fabulous. I think pencil skirts are always much sexier and classier than short ones, and I like the brown leather? cuffs and collar on your faux fur!
ReplyDeleteMySA i think you have to have seen it - the cuffs, collar and trim are all in a nubby cashmere - i will post a closeup soon x
ReplyDeleteAnother piece created by yourself! It's beautiful, Claire! Is there any need to say that I love this outfit? The dusty pink hues and the fabulous shoes, you look wonderful! Sorry to see Frank so sad. He must get an extra present for this. :)
ReplyDeleteAda
Oh Ada i am so smiling - he will get an extra pressie - he is the funniest dog he truly has the most miserable face in the world when poorly and at first we used to really panic now we know he is just one big wus and tomorrow he will be bouncing about being a complete pain - yet i always fall for it and baby him ridiculously - so who is the thickie?? xxx
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are to die for! The skirt is gorgeous. Christmas is approaching!

ReplyDeleteI so love your self description of two parts Margo, two parts Barbara. Also, Frank's dejected look, I hope he recovers his good humour soon.
