Flowers and Stripes

Who would have thought it - flowers and stripes - yet bubbling away, slightly under the radar, this is a trend that works and works well!

I recently read an article on the Sharp Threads blog that expressed the trend of mixing print perfectly, have a look at the whole article it really is very good!

http://sharpthreads.blogspot.com/2011/05/mixed-prints.html

Below you will find my interpretation of this trend - I bought the outfit at Jean Paul Gaultier a while back and it works well on many levels - together, separately, and with the dress undone to reveal more of the print.

I am a huge fan of JPG and if you have the chance to visit the shop at the back of Walton Street - do so -it is a fashionista haven with some of the best innovative accessories and the staff are very nice too! x

Sunday Prada Madness

Are you liking this Prada dress??  I am and I am now owning it!  At this point I am also totally blaming my friend Jo's man (love him as i truly do) (and because i am want to blame anyone other than myself when it comes to over purchasing guilt!!)

I have the man's family do this weekend - a BIG family do - they are italian - there are a lot of them and i feel some outfit pressure it has to be said.  I bought my lovely PA, Claire, a fantastic blue/black limited edition nail polish from Chanel a couple of weeks back and it occurred to me a couple of days ago that this would be the perfect polish to my perfect outfit!!

I resolved to pop into Chanel on Saturday whilst wandering past.  Had already made what in fashionista terms was a positive pitstop at Roger Vivier which caused such consternation (obviously in man terms it was a long stop) so to keep all happy i put my not-obsessed shopper hat on and went to Hyde Park instead thinking there is always Sunday when i am on my own and no men to hand!

Proceeded on my long trot to Chanel - only to get the polish - had been a good night out - tad hungover
(maybe that too contributed to my lack of resolve) - virtuously determined to just get that polish - well they were shut!  And opposite is Prada - dont know what came over me but i was over that road and in that shop in a fashion second!

I was only going to look at the shoes - all sold out in my size thank god!  The dress was there in my size and i looooved it on the catwalk - thought it wont fit, it wont suit and it was on my back - suiting and fitting - suiting and fitting amazingly!!  I bought it and i still think my friend's man is totally to blame (lol)

xxxxx

As an update i am now borrowing the polish back of Claire, which is what i should have done in the first place (but felt it a little of a cheek)  something about hindsight and wonderful thing comes to mind!!

Fashion Madness

I know it is summer and i know it is utter madness to be looking at Fall but i can't help it!  I blame Style.com!  and on that note - who is picking up that 70's thing again - Chloe, Emilio Pucci, Gucci - they all did it well - but who is your favourite?  Posting a few of mine below! xx

Windy YSL

Had a lovely day on Saturday - was a tad blustery but when wandering, chatting and a bit of window shopping who notices (is the whole wandering, chatting, shopping thing a bit of a repeated thread for me??!)

Went with my lovely friend Jo, her man, my man and Frank and a good day had by all, particularly Frank who met a 6 month old daschund puppy called Ringo in Hyde Park and was chewed and licked to death for a good 10 minutes!  Frank thought this super entertainment!

He also met a gaggle of young ladies sitting on a pavement who rather bravely called him over and got a massive face lick for the pleasure - those of you who are not dog lovers are now feeling physically ill so apologies for that - as i said great day in all - great night out in the evening but more of that later.

Enjoy your day! xx

Lessons Learnt??

This dress - i loove this dress - it is short and probably too short for me but i love it!  So i have chosen to ignore/tweak the Chris's aunties rule - I will wear it - on holiday, on my way to london (i do drive!!) or with a trench - so that is the beauty of sartorial musings - they are just that and can quite easily be ignored!! xx

Dress - Dries van Noten about 4 years old, Celine wedges (again!), Golden Goose Trench (again!),
bag Chanel (again!) American Vintage cotton body - last summer, Jewellery Bex Rox,

Lessons Learnt

As life progresses along its merry sartorial path - we learn lessons - learn them, ignore them, tweak them but always remember them!

Some 20 years ago i was living in the east end of london and a couple of doors up lived Christine - Chris was east end born and bred - generations deep - and i was rather in awe of her.  Long thick black hair, big breasts, small waist and skin tight catsuits!!  To my 20 odd year old somewhat chubby fair self she was soooo glamorous! and i really wanted to be her!

The lesson I learnt was Chris's aunties!  when walking down the Roman Road market - one might often spot - tiny waists, long black hair, skintight catsuits and see other passersby doing like-wise - admiring looks on their faces.  That was till they passed because the back did not match the front - at that point i learnt that there comes an age when no matter how good the scaffolding sometimes your just too old.  Or so i told my 20 year old self!  Now that time is starting to pass me by i try to remember the aunties!!

But then - lets face it rules - especially sartorial ones - are sometimes just meant to be broken! xx

Stripes!

I looove these trousers - they are about 4 years old and come out every summer - and this summer the wide leg is soo bang on!
Soo very chuffed about that (you may have noticed given the number of flared trousers seen this summer already!)

The subtle stripe shirt is Tylho from Matches and a couple of years old - has that real 70's feel with the pockets xx
